The fundamental idea behind LochIsle technology arose out of discussions
between Gavin McLintock and Mike Caughey. The two technology innovators
were exploring ideas along the lines of "imagine if...". The conversation
soon progressed to "Imagine if a door could recognize who was allowed
to open it and who wasn't." What could you do with that capability?
Who would care? It soon became apparent that a lot of people and
organizations would care and that this would be a very useful capability.
In fact, McLintock set out to find a source of this capability for
his own use.
To McLintock's surprise the capability couldn't be found anywhere!
That led to further discussions along the lines of "ok, how could
it be done?".
Many months later, the iLoch™ concept was born. Now LochIsle™ has
amassed a solid team behind it and is launching the iLoch™ system
for use in residential, small business applications, property management,
and to help those trying to maintain their independence in the face
of physical disabilities or the infirmities that come with advancing
age.
Although the original fascination started with the implications
of having an intelligent door, it didn't take long to recognize the
breadth of possibility a robust access management system could have.
Out of this has developed a web services platform that can tie identity
and credentials to a wide variety of services and hardware. The company
has architected the technology to make it available under license
to other innovative companies.
In the meantime, the LochIsle team continues to focus on its quest: that one day, all locks will work this way.
