Can I still use an ordinary key on the door?
It depends. Locks using the iLoch™ system are standard electronic locks some of which come with regular mechanical keys as backup. You may continue to use these at all times. Since they are no longer required, however, we recommend you keep these keys in a safe place should you ever wish to remove the iLoch™ system. The iLoch™ system can also be used to control an electric stike in some applications. In this case your regular door lock remains in place and can still be unlocked with its normal keys.
Do I have to be connected to the internet all the time?
No. The only time it is essential to be connected to the internet is when you want to update the permissions you have granted to the lock. An "always on" connection does, however, permit you to take full advantage of all the features available.
What will my insurance company say about this system?
Insurance companies familiar with the iLoch™ system will confirm the system provides enhanced security. Go ahead and ask them. If your insurance provider is unfamiliar with the system, please direct them to our website or have them contact us directly.
Could a hacker get my key code and use it to open my door?
No. Your key code is securely encrypted at all times with encryption equivalent to that used to protect your bank account.
Can I use this system on my car?
Yes, if your car door lock is outfitted with the iLoch™ system. Some locksmiths are able to make the required modifications to your car. As yet, LochIsle has not directly delivered an automotive solution but will gladly work with any of the automotive manufacturers to do so.
If I sell my home can I transfer the service to the new owner?
Yes. Similar to switching over your other home utilities and services, simply advise us via your personal access management web page.
